Material comes first in the work of Polina Torbina.
With a background in cultural research and visual studies, her practice moves between curatorial thinking and object-making, where each piece is approached as both structure and narrative. Working across stone, wood, and glass, she develops a language grounded in contrast — weight and lightness, rawness and refinement.
Her objects often sit between function and sculpture. Tables, seating, and utilitarian forms become carriers of tension and balance, shaped through a precise yet intuitive engagement with material.
Defined by strong lines and a restrained vocabulary, her work brings together clarity and sensitivity. A certain fluidity runs through her forms, softening their structural rigor and introducing a quieter, more introspective presence.
Through this approach, she constructs a contemporary vision of collectible design — where objects are not only used, but experienced.
