Based in Paris, Maud Pupato develops a practice where material becomes language and gesture, a form of listening. After nearly two decades in the fashion industry, her work has shifted toward a quieter territory — a space of restraint, attention, and transformation.
Working at the intersection of photography and rope-wrapping, she explores how a form can be perceived, displaced, and held. The binding does not constrain; it reveals. It outlines, contains, suspends — allowing what remains latent to surface.
Her photographs extend this gesture. They do not merely document, but establish a presence. Object and image coexist — at times autonomous, at times inseparable.
Her practice also expands into still life and body movement, guided by a consistent pursuit: to capture an invisible tension, a subtle vibration at the surface of things.
Through collaborations with collectors, artists, and artisans, Maud Pupato develops a body of work that seeks not to transform, but to reveal — to hold a form while allowing it the space to exist.
