Jörg Koziol

Jörg Koziol

France

Born in 1980 in Hamburg and now based in the South-West of France, the practice of Joerg unfolds as a continuous exploration of form, material, and intuition.

Driven by an intrinsic need to create, his work developed through a wide-ranging engagement with both art and craft — from drawing and painting to more abstract constructions. This trajectory gradually led him toward sculpture, where making becomes a direct, physical dialogue with material.

Since 2019, he has focused his practice on sculpture, working primarily with wood. For him, wood is not a neutral medium but a living material — one that resists, responds, and carries its own rhythm. Through carving, shaping, and listening to the material, his forms emerge between intention and instinct.

His work reflects an ongoing search for balance between structure and sensitivity, where object and intuition meet. Each piece holds a quiet presence, shaped by time, gesture, and an attentiveness to what the material reveals.
