Working predominantly in oak, Jamie Gaunt approaches carving as a process of uncovering rather than constructing.
Each piece evolves slowly, shaped through cutting, faceting, and refining — allowing the grain, density, and resistance of the wood to guide its development. His forms carry a sense of permanence, grounded in both material and gesture.
Echoing ancient references while remaining resolutely contemporary, his sculptures occupy a space between the familiar and the timeless.
They invite a close and attentive viewing, where texture, shadow, and subtle variation reveal themselves over time.
