Silk becomes a language of memory in the work of Diana Bitar.
Working primarily with hand-dyed and pleated silk, the Brussels-based artist creates sculptural textiles that unfold between movement and stillness. Her forms appear fluid and organic, yet are carefully constructed through repetition, gesture, and an intimate understanding of material.
Drawing inspiration from poetry, ritual, and contemplative traditions, Bitar approaches textile as both surface and presence. Light plays an active role within her work, revealing subtle variations of color, translucency, and depth. The fabric responds to its surroundings, creating compositions that shift with perception.
Her pieces occupy a space between architecture and intimacy. Suspended, folded, or gently undulating, they evoke emotional landscapes rather than fixed narratives, allowing memory and sensation to take form through material.
Through this practice, Diana Bitar transforms textile into a medium of reflection — where fragility becomes strength, and softness becomes structure.
