Ancient forms find a contemporary voice in the work of Canoa Lab.
Founded by Raquel Vidal and Pedro Paz, the Valencia-based studio draws from archaeological references and Mediterranean vessel traditions, revisiting them through a process of experimentation. Press moulding, coiling, and glaze research become tools to reinterpret rather than reproduce.
Each piece is handmade, carrying slight variations that preserve a sense of individuality and time. The forms remain familiar — bowls, vessels, containers — yet subtly displaced, as if translated into a different context.
Their work operates between memory and reinvention. It does not seek to replicate the past, but to reactivate it — allowing historical forms to exist within a contemporary sensibility.
