Trained as an industrial designer and shaped by a strong engagement with contemporary craft, Adrian Salvador Candela develops a practice where form precedes function.
Working across leather, ceramic and mineral-based materials, he reinterprets traditional techniques through a sculptural lens. His research, notably developed during his residency at the Real Academia de España en Roma, challenges functionalist logic in favour of a more intuitive, material-driven approach.
His pieces exist in a state of tension — between object and sculpture, intention and emergence. Forms unfold through process, shaped as much by transformation and material response as by design.
Central to his work is the notion of the “epiphytic object”: forms that rest upon existing structures, absorbing their history while subtly altering their meaning.
